The Story of GGC Coffee

This is GGC Coffee, a Klamath Falls original – a “virtual” coffee house serving up customers around the globe with information as opposed to actual cups of coffee.

This business started back in the Spring of 2014 when a new coffee shop first opened it’s doors in downtown Klamath Falls in a previously unoccupied spot in the Grizzle building.

The area was in desperate need for revitalization and in the years since the entire block has changed for the better.

Fast forward to 2019 and GGC Coffee no longer serves customers in a cafe setting; that job was past on to Gathering Grounds Roastery, owned by Jason Aarstad which is still operated out of that same space in the Grizzle building on 11th.

GGC instead decided to switch it’s focus to educating coffee enthusiasts through their own endeavors in the kitchen using the very website you are reading right now as our main communication channel.

We want to teach our readers the difference between various products on the market as well as the difference between different coffee brewing techniques.

We want to teach people how to make cafe quality coffee at home instead of having to hit a coffee shop up every day!

GGC Coffee is now a digital publishing company focused almost exclusively on the coffee industry.

This is why I’ve dubbed it a “virtual” coffee shop.

Soon after the original cafe’s doors opened in 2014, neighboring businesses opened up too – notably Gaucho Collective and the Sky Lakes Wellness Center.

By summer of 2019 the Van Dyke memorial park opened across the street marking the beginning of the original cafe as the start of neighborhood revitalization.

By the summer of 2016 the cafe’s original owner Brandon Sickler sold the company’s retail arm and physical cafe space to local entrepreneur, Jason Aarstad, who continued to run the coffee roasting business and cafe under the new name Gathering Grounds Roastery.

The publishing business however did not transfer to the new owner. Instead it grew under existing owners before rebranding in summer of 2018. This is when it took on the name GGC Coffee.

By Spring of 2019 was finally bought out by local entrepreneur, Brian Mounts who currently owns and manages GGC Coffee in its entirety.

Through this relatively short but eventful history GGC Coffee has become an industry leader in educating “wannabe coffee snobs” and we continue to grow significantly every year.

Currently GGC Coffee is reaching over 50,000 readers every month and that number is still growing!

Current owner and managing editor of Brian Mounts, has pushed this Klamath Falls based online coffee business to be one of the leading sources for all coffee information online.

The business is not designed to make drinks for customers but to rather teach customers how to make better coffee at home and then sell them the tools needed to make that happen.

The official name change for happened in June of 2018 and I look forward to many years of growth going forward for both GGCCoffee and for Jason’s traditional cafe and roasting business Gathering Grounds Roastery, still located on 11st, downtown Klamath Falls.

I hope you’ll find this site useful but if you want a great cup of coffee, a nice bag of freshly roasted beans, or a smiling face to take your order then be sure to see what is going on over at GGRoastery over on 11th in downtown Klamath. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
