Coffee Makers with a Strong Setting for Small Pots

Most full sized coffee makers make pretty good coffee assuming you use enough grind and make a full pot of coffee but they fail to make good coffee when you make a small pot.

All of the coffee makers listed below have built-in settings to adjust the brewing process for smaller quantities of water and grind.

Some of the drip coffee makers listed below have a 1-4 cup button while others have a button or setting labeled strong” or “bold”. They all work mostly the same way.

>> Cuisinart DCC-3200 14-Cup Glass Carafe with Stainless Steel Handle Programmable Coffeemaker
>> Kenmore 40704 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker
>> Hamilton Beach 46310 Coffee Maker
>> Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control, Silver, Medium

If you don’t really think you want a coffee maker that makes full 10-14 cups of coffee at a time make sure to get a small coffee maker that has a bold setting.

If you want a k-cup compatible machine I like to recommend the Hamilton Beach Flexbrew model 49979 which has a similar setting for single cup brewing. The bold setting slows the flow rate of water resulting in stronger coffee at the sacrifice of a little speed.
